TDT Representative Visits Kantawa Water Source Project, Commends Community Partnership and MASO

Kantawa Village, Nkasi District, Rukwa Region The TDT Representative for Rukwa Region, Mr. Edgar Florence, visited the Kantawa Water Source in Kantawa Village, Kipande Ward, Nkasi District, to assess the progress and impact of the water source improvement project funded by TDT and implemented by Malaika Social Organization (MASO) in close collaboration with the local community. During the visit, Mr. Florence toured the rehabilitated water source and observed the improvements made to protect and enhance the spring. He received updates on the project's implementation and learned how community members actively participated throughout the process, contributing to the successful completion of the work. Speaking after the site visit, Mr. Florence expressed his satisfaction with the quality of the work and the strong collaboration between MASO and the community. He commended the dedication shown by all stakeholders and emphasized that community ownership is essential for ensuring the long-term sustainability of development projects.

Community members also used the occasion to express their heartfelt appreciation to TDT for funding the project and to MASO for successfully implementing it. On behalf of the village, Mr. Sabas Mbogamchungu, Chairperson of Kantawa Village, thanked both organizations for addressing one of the community's most pressing needs. He noted that the improved water source will provide reliable access to clean and safe water while contributing to better health and environmental protection. The Head Teacher of Kantawa Primary School also conveyed his appreciation, explaining that the improved water source will benefit both pupils and teachers by ensuring a dependable supply of clean water for daily use, thereby creating a healthier learning environment. Pupils from Kantawa Primary School expressed their gratitude as well, noting that the project has brought hope to the community and will make it easier for children to access clean water both at school and at home. The visit highlighted the importance of partnerships between donors, civil society organizations, and local communities in delivering sustainable development outcomes. Through this collaboration, the Kantawa Water Source Project stands as a successful example of how collective action can improve access to clean water and enhance the well-being of rural communities.
